SkyTrain
The SkyTrain cabin railway connects the “Düsseldorf Flughafen” airport railway station to the terminal. The SkyTrain takes you quickly and comfortably from the railway station to the terminal and, of course, back, making a brief stop at the P 4/5 car park garage.

The luggage carts cannot be taken onto the SkyTrain.

The fare for getting to and from the airport is covered by the airfare ticket at some travel operators and airlines. For more detailed information, please contact your travel agent directly.

The SkyTrain commutes between the terminal and the "Flughafen" airport railway station continuously at 3½ to 7 minute intervals from 3:45 a.m. until 0:45 a.m. daily. The journey between the two end stops, the "Bahnhof Düsseldorf Flughafen" railway station and "Terminal C," is 6½ minutes. The following tickets are accepted as being valid fare tickets:

• valid VRR and VRS tickets
• special DB tickets, such as City plus, NRW, Schöne Reise, Schöne Fahrt and Schöner Tag tickets
• Apcoa Autoparking GmbH car park tickets, for up to 9 persons
• Tickets for the observation deck at Düsseldorf Airport, (Terminal B and railway station) on the day of use

All passengers who do not have one of these tickets are required to obtain a short-range fare ticket in order to ride on the SkyTrain (or on substitute buses). Ticket vending machines are located at the SkyTrain stations. When using the SkyTrain, the fares and transport terms and conditions of the Verkehrsverbundes Rhein-Ruhr (VRR) transport association apply.

 

A bus shuttle between the "Flughafen" railway station, car parks 4, 5, 6 and the terminal is provided when the SkyTrain is not in service. Buses depart from the railway station, from Level 0, from 1:05 to 3:25 a.m. at 20-minute intervals. The journey to the terminal takes about 8 minutes. Departure from car parks 4 and 5 from 1:09 a.m. The terminal bus stop is located on the arrivals level (across from Exit E).

The SkyTrain leaves the "Bahnhof Düsseldorf Flughafen" railway station every few minutes, makes a stop at the P4/5 car park, travels onward to the terminal, and takes the same path back. There are two stops within the terminal building- the "Terminal AoB" and the "Terminal C". These stops are signposted. The following is a short description of how to find your way to the stops:

"Bahnhof Düsseldorf Flughafen" station: when you arrive on the train at the "Flughafen" railway station, you leave the tracks and reach the railway building via the stairs, moving walkway or lift and from there to the SkyTrain station.

 
P4, 5 car parks: After parking your car at the P4 or P5 car parks, follow the exit signs (Ausgang) to the ground level. From there, access to the SkyTrain stop has been signposted.

Terminal stations: The SkyTrain railway tracks are integrated into the façade of the building; the stops are located above the departures level. The departure and arrivals levels are connected by stairs, escalators and lifts to the "Terminal AoB" and "Terminal C" stops.

Please be aware that, due to safety reasons, the SkyTrain may only be used without luggage carts.

The baggage carts cannot be taken into the SkyTrain.

 

The fully automatic SkyTrain cabin railway cruises about 10 metres high on a 2.5 kilometre route above the airport grounds. In every hour and in one direction, the five trains in total, each consisting of two cabins, are capable of transporting 2,000 people at a maximum speed of 50 km/h. Every cabin is fitted with large panorama windows and has plenty of space for luggage.
