How do I find the right check-in counter?

You can find out either by checking on the day of travel on our internet site under Departures , where you will find the right check-in counter for your flight, together with all the detailed information relating to your flight number. Or else look at one of our numerous flight information monitors in the terminal.

 

Can I check in the evening before my flight?

There are lots of airlines offering the so-called Late Night Check-in. Be aware that somn airlines take a fee for this service. To find out when and where and with which airline you can check in your luggage on the evening before, look under Late Night Check-in .

 

Is there a left luggage office?

Our left luggage office accepts every type of luggage, from winter coat to bicycle to surfboard. You will find the Left Luggage Office on the ground floor in car park 3. Opening hours: 4.00 am – midnight (daily) Telephone: 0211-421-2515

 

Can I remain overnight at the airport when my flight leaves very early the next morning?

Yes, you can spend the whole night in the terminal. McDonald’s in Arrivals and the b2b-café on the Departures level are both open round the clock.

 

Can I book flights trips directly with you?

Of course. At the DUS Travelport you can book direct online. And at the airport you will find more than 60 travel agents open 365 days a year.

Where do I park when I want to meet someone?
Only buses and taxis have access to the arrivals area. People coming to collect travellers are asked, therefore, to use one of the multi-storey car parks in the terminal zone (=orange).


How do I get to the parking garage or car?
We have prepared directions for you online. Go to our parking page and select “Directions”. Under “Car parks”, you will also find an overview of all of our car parks at Düsseldorf Airport. Click on the car park you've reserved and you will see a map with directions. For your convenience, you can click on “Print directions” to download a PDF document for printing.


Do I need a ticket to travel on the SkyTrain?

Yes, the SkyTrain is part of the local public transport network where the appropriate tickets of the VRR (Rhein-Ruhr Transport Executive) and sometimes Deutsche Bahn [German Railways] are valid. You will find ticket machines at the stops.


Does the SkyTrain also run at night?
Yes, with a short suspension of operations, when shuttle buses then link the airport railway station, the multi-storey car parks 4, 5 and 6 and the terminal.


How long does it take on the S-Bahn or by car/taxi from Düsseldorf Central Station to the airport?

By S-Bahn twelve minutes, by taxi about 15 minutes.


What does it cost by taxi/ S-Bahn from the airport to Düsseldorf city centre?

A taxi costs approx. €20, a single ticket on the S-Bahn €2.30.

What are the benefits of reserving in advance?
  • A space will definitely be kept free for you at the parking garage or car park of your choice.
  • You do not need to search for a suitable parking space on site.
  • You no longer need to get a car park ticket and hold onto it throughout your travels.
  • You do not need to go to the pay machine or worry about having enough cash to pay for parking.
  • Reserved parking is comfortable, saves time and is easy on your nerves.

Can I cancel or change my parking space

You can change your parking space reservation once free of charge, but not cancel it. When changing your reservation, please note the following points:

  • You can change your reservation up to 24 hours before your scheduled arrival time.
  • When you change your reservation, the new arrival time must be no more than one year after the originally scheduled arrival time.
  • You may change your reservation to a different fare zone provided that the reselected parking space features the same method of payment (“prepayment” or “payment upon departure”) as the parking space reserved originally.
  • When changing your reservation, you may select a longer or shorter length of time than the original reservation.
  • Additional parking fees may be assessed for changing your reservation to a different fare zone or changing the length of time of your reservation.
  • If additional parking fees are assessed and you originally selected a product with the “prepayment” method of payment, your credit card or ec card will be charged for the difference in price when you finish changing the reservation.
  • If you selected a product with the “payment upon departure” method of payment, you will pay the parking fees directly on site at the exit barrier by credit card or ec card. The parking fees are determined by your actual length of stay and are calculated on site according to the list of fees shown at that car park.
  • Please note that no fees can be reimbursed.


Do I reserve a specific parking space?
No, you reserve an unassigned parking space at the parking garage or car park you select. We guarantee that a parking space will be kept free for you at that parking garage or car park. When you arrive, you simply need to let our internal parking guidance system guide you to the next available parking space.


Will I get an invoice for my reservation?
Yes, if you make a parking space reservation using the “payment upon departure” method of payment, you will receive an invoice as a PDF document attached to your confirmation e-mail, provided there is a charge for your reservation. You will receive a receipt for the parking fee charged on site when you leave the car park.
If you make a parking space reservation using the “prepayment” method of payment, you will receive an invoice as a PDF document attached to your confirmation e-mail, which states the parking fees and any reservation fees incurred.


What do I do if I forget my password?
In this case, you can click on "Forgotten your password?" to have your password sent to the e-mail address, which is deposited in our system. We recommend that you'll then change your password.


What happens if the credit card or ec card I've selected is no longer valid at the time of my trip?

You will need to use the credit card or ec card you used to make the reservation to enter and exit the car park at which you have reserved a space. When making the reservation, you should therefore make sure that your credit card or ec card will remain valid at least until the end of your parking space reservation. If it should turn out that your credit card or ec card is no longer valid when you want to enter or exit the car park, please press the Help button at the entrance or exit barrier to contact our staff for assistance.


Do I have to do anything specific to reserve more than one parking space during the same period?
You can only use your credit card or ec card and your e-mail account to reserve one parking space for a specific period of time. If you like to reserve more than one parking space for the same period of time (e.g. if your family is travelling with more than one car), you will have to use a different credit card or ec card and a different e-mail account for each one. You cannot reserve more than one parking space for the same period of time using the same customer account.

 

 

 

 

Arrival with parking space reservation

 

 

What do I have to do when I arrive at the car park I’ve reserved?
To enter the car park, please insert the credit card or ec card you used to make the reservation into the designated slot at the entry barrier. Provided that you are arriving during the reserved time period, the machine will recognise your card and the barrier will open. You may now drive in. Please do not take a parking ticket and do not forget to remove your credit card or ec card from the slot.


What if the car park sign says “occupied”?

If you have reserved a parking space in the car park, you may ignore the sign and enter using the credit card or ec card you used to make the reservation. We guarantee that there will be a parking space kept free for you, even though the sign may say “occupied”.
If you have reserved a parking space in the Premium Parking area of parking garage P3, please use the separate, designated entrance on the departure level.


Do I also need to take a car park ticket when I enter?
No, you only need the credit card or ec card you used to make the reservation. The confirmation e-mail you received also states which card you used.


What happens if I want to park before the scheduled arrival time?
In the TERMINAL area you have a grace period of no more than 1 hour before the beginning of your scheduled arrival time. In the LONG-TERM and LONG-TERM SAVINGS areas, you have a grace period of no more than 4 hours before and 6 hours after the scheduled arrival time.
Please note that, in order to enter, you still need to use the credit card or ec card with which you made the reservation. If you take a car park ticket on arrival, you cannot pay be credit card or ec card when you leave.


What happens if I’m running late and I cannot make it by the scheduled arrival time?

If you have reserved a parking space in the TERMINAL area, you can enter up to 1 hour before or after the scheduled arrival time. Once this hour is over, the parking space is no longer reserved. In the LONG-TERM and LONG-TERM SAVINGS areas, you can enter up to 4 hours before and 6 hours after your scheduled arrival time, even if the sign indicates that the car park is “occupied”.


What happens if I take a car park ticket on arrival?
You have to insert the credit card or ec card with which the reservation was made. Otherwise, you will not be able to use the credit card or ec card when you leave. Please go directly to the exit. Note that, in this case, a parking fee may be due. You can pay at the exit.


What should I do if there is a problem at the entry or exit barrier?

All entry and exit barriers feature a Help button which will connect you to our staff for assistance. There is someone on call 24/7. Please explain your problem to the service staff.


Am I allowed to leave and come back during the reserverd period of parking time?
No, your reservation only entitles you to enter and leave the car park once.


May I park a van or minibus in the parking garage?
The parking garage height limits vary between 1.90 m and 2.10 m. You can find more detailed information on the height limits here.

 

 

 

 

Departure and payment

 

 

What do I have to do when I leave the reserved car park?
To leave the car park, please insert the credit card or ec card you used to make the reservation into the designated slot at the exit barrier. The barrier opens automatically and you may drive out. Please do not forget to remove your credit card or ec card from the slot.


Do I have to go to the pay machine before leaving?

No, you can go directly to your car and drive to the exit.


Is it a problem if I exceed the reserved length of stay?

No, if “Payment upon departure” was chosen during the reservation, it doesn’t matter how long the car will be parked. The exact parking fee is calculated while leaving the car park and further automatically debited to either your credit card or your ec card. When you make an online TERMINAL area parking reservation, a reservation fee of 6 euro (8 euro in the Premium Parking area in car park P3) will be debited to your credit card or ec card after completing your reservation.
If you stayed longer than the reserved period and prepaid for the parking space, you will receive an invoice according to the current fees.


How do I get my receipt if I pay at the exit barrier?

You receive a receipt directly at the exit barrier as proof of your payment transaction.


Is it enough if I just use my credit card or ec card when I leave?

No! The system needs to confirm your credit card or ec card upon entry and exit in order to ensure the proper settlement of your transaction.


Will I receive money back if I leave before my scheduled departure time?
If you chose “Payment upon departure” whithin your reservation, your parking fee is based on your actual arrival and departure times and will not be debited to your credit card or ec card until you'll leave the car park.
For parking reservations that are paid in advance (“Prepayment”), you pay the fee for the length you selected, when you booked the parking space. This applies even if you leave the car park early. There are no refunds.

Are there guided tours of the airport?

Is smoking permitted in the airport?
Düsseldorf Airport is a non-smoking airport. Smoker lounges are situated in the security areas at the gates C and B.


Where is the Tax Refund counter for the reimbursement of VAT?
The Tax Refund/Global Refund counter is situated in the departures terminal in area A. Telephone 0211 421 7511
