The cabin railway SkyTrain connects the “Düsseldorf Flughafen” railway station with the terminal. You travel quickly and comfortably with an interim stop at car park P4 – from where you can also reach car park P5 – from the main-line station to the terminal. Unfortunately, you cannot take luggage carts onto the SkyTrain.

Times and tickets
The SkyTrain operates daily from 03:45 to 00:45 (also longer if necessary) every 3.5 – 7 minutes between the terminal and main-line station. The journey between the two termini “Bahnhof Düsseldorf Flughafen” and “Terminal C” takes about 6.5 minutes. When SkyTrain is not operating, a bus transfer is guaranteed between the “Düsseldorf Flughafen” station, car parks 4 and 5 and the terminal. Buses depart from the station, level 0, every 20 minutes from 01:05 to 03:25. The journey to the terminal takes about 8 minutes. Departures from car parks 4 and 5 are from 01:09. The “Terminal” bus stop is situated on the Arrivals level (opposite door E).
The following tickets are accepted for the SkyTrain:
• valid VRR and VRS tickets
• special DB tickets, such as City plus, NRW-, Schöne-Reise-, Schöne-Fahrt- and the Schöner-Tag ticket
• Flughafen Düsseldorf GmbH car park tickets for up to 9 persons
•Tickets for the observation deck at Düsseldorf Airport (Terminal B) on the day of use
All passengers who are not in possession of one of these tickets must buy a ticket at the short journey fare before travelling on the SkyTrain (or substitute bus service). Ticket vending machines can be found at the stations. The fares and terms & conditions of carriage of the Verkehrsverbundes Rhein-Ruhr (VRR) apply when using the SkyTrain.
Stops and route
The SkyTrain operates from the “Düsseldorf Flughafen” railway station via car park P4/P5 to the terminal and back by the same route. There are two stops in the terminal building: Terminal A/B and Terminal C. The stops are signposted accordingly.
Here some brief information on where you can find the stops:
• “Düsseldorf Flughafen” station: On arriving at the airport railway station by train, you take the stairs, escalators or elevators from the platforms into the station building, and from there to the SkyTrain Station.
•Car park P4/P5: Once you’ve parked your car in car park P4 or P5, follow the signs to the “Ausgang” (Exit) on the ground floor. The way to the station is signposted from there.
•Terminal stations: -The SkyTrain tracks are integrated in the facade of the terminal; the stops are situated above the Departures level. The Departures and Arrivals levels are connected to the Terminal A/B and Terminal C stops by stairs, escalators and elevators.
Unfortunately, you cannot take luggage carts onto the SkyTrain.
Equipment and technical details
The fully automatic cabin railway SkyTrain travels at a height of about 10 meters over the airport on a stretch of about 2.5 kilometres in length. Per hour and direction, the in total five trains, which each consist of two cabins, carry up to 2,000 people at a maximum speed of 50 kph. All cabins feature panoramic windows and ample stowage space for luggage.
