Pick-up & drop-off

Kiss & Fly

In order to better organise traffic, the airport is implementing a new procedure. Barrier systems in front of and behind the access points for the Departure and Arrivals levels have been designed to control traffic flow more effectively. Vehicles may continue to pass through both zones free of charge and take passengers to the terminal’s Departure level; however, longer-term stopping in this area will become subject to a fee.

You may stay there free of charge for up to ten minutes, which should be plenty of time. There are 80 stopping points available. Should you need more than ten minutes and up to 15 minutes, there is a charge of five euro. Each additional five minutes is three euro. The maximum stopping time at the departures level is 30 minutes at a total of 14 euro.
After that, your vehicle may get towed.

As ihe Arrivals level. This is an absolute no-parking zone and only true transit traffic is possible. The maximum time for passing through is two minutes. For any violation of the no-stopping rule, drivers are charged five euro for stops for up to five minutes.

Car park P2, the “First Class Parking” in P3 and the Sheraton Hotel continue to be accessible through the zones behind the barriers.

For drivers needing more than the average drop-off time, Düsseldorf Airport recommend the short-term parking lots P11 and P12, which are located right behind the access area exit, at 1.80 euro for each 12 minutes, as well as the close-to-terminal car parks P1, P2, P3, P7, or P8 at a cost of between 3.50 and 5 euro per hour.

How and where do I pay in case I go over the time limit for free stops?

At the Departures level, there are several automated pay stations for cash, EC and credit card payments (PIN and NFC-chip). Payments with credit card and EC card may be made directly at the exit barrier.

Do I have to pay twice if I drive first through the barriers at the terminal access points and then into a car park?

No, double payments are not necessary. Moreover, the only car park entry within the barriers is car park P2.

Enter car park P2 by inserting the ticket received at the barrier for the entry point into the P2 automated access station. After being time-stamped, the ticket will pop out of the machine, the barrier opens, and the ticket can be paid as usual before exiting P2. After exiting car park P2, the exit of the terminal access is next, at which the paid ticket is inserted into the automated exit station.

Is it possible to receive a monthly bill for multiple entries and exits?

Currently, no monthly bills can be accrued for access areas. However, it is available for terminal car parks.

What do I do if my ticket is lost or cannot be read?

The service staff in the access area is the right contact for this. A staff member can be summoned to provide assistance by pressing the call button at the automated pay station and at the entries and exits.

What happens if I exceed the time limit for free stays within the barriered areas through someone else’s fault? Who is responsible for the charges?

For any next steps, contact the service staff in the access area.

What is the maximum allowed width for a vehicle?

The stopping areas have sizes that are standard for public traffic spaces. For buses, a separate area at Departures is available.

Is there a maximum height for vertical clearance?

No maximum height is given.

Am I allowed to enter with a trailer?

This is possible with the assistance of a staff member, either in person or via the central office (reachable via call button at all entries and exits). A staff member will open the barriers manually.
