Düsseldorf is not only an excellent airport for connecting flights within Europe, it has also become an attractive hub with many intercontinental flights. During the last years carriers as Lufthansa, Air Berlin, Emirates, Etihad, Delta Air Lines, Air China and ANA have established nonstop services to a variety of destinations in North America, Asia and Africa.
Düsseldorf is the largest Germanwings station with about 70 destinations. Long-haul connections to New York/Newark and Chicago, as well as the routes to Frankfurt and Munich, will still be flown by Lufthansa. The airport is also the major hub for the long-haul operations of Air Berlin, Germany’s second largest key player in the market.
