Security control

At the security control is checked whether you are carrying dangerous or prohibited items or prohibited liquids. The Federal Police is responsible for the security checks at Düsseldorf Airport, which rely on the support of a private security service provider.

Longer waiting times can be expected during holiday seasons, on so-called long weekends and before public holidays. Please consider this when planning your journey.

Opening hours security control

The opening of the security checkpoints is coordinated with the check-in times. Currently the checkpoints open at at 4:00 a.m. Please keep an eye on the opening hours of the checkpoints - especially if you are only traveling with hand luggage or have already checked in the evening before. The piers are connected in the security area – you can reach every gate through any security check.

Please keep your hand luggage to a minimum and pay attention to the hand luggage regulations.

Then you should proceed to the security control immediately.

Priority Lanes

A priority lane (fast lane) is permanently available at the check point "Gates B".

At Piers A and C, the Federal Police may use all available lanes for the general security control, depending on the staffing . In this case, we recommend to switch to the priority lane at Pier B. You can reach your gate from here in a few minutes.

The piers are connected

There is a security checkpoint at every pier (A, B, C). You can reach your departure gate via any of these entrances. The gates are connected in the security area by walkways.

Service staff

If necessary, service staff will help to speed up the process, e.g. by directing you to another control point. Display boards at the checkpoints provide information about the expected waiting time.

Litter bottles and cans

  • Please throw beverage bottles and cans into the boxes provided.
  • Only empty ore closed  containers, please.

Small items

Empty your pockets and stow small things in your jacket or hand luggage.

Exception: One lighter can be kept in your pocket.

Take off your jacket

Have you stowed all the little things in the jacket or in your hand luggage? Please take off your jacket before the security check.

Prepare for seperate control

Keep in mind: The bag of liquids and larger electronic devices have to be checked separately.

Please place your hand luggage, your jacket, the bag with liquids and your electronic devices separately into the baggage box.

WINGS express

Eurowings customers who wish to use the "WINGS express" service for their flight to Berlin or Hamburg will find a designated access point at the "Gates A" security checkpoint.
