In addition to the title of “Best Regional Airport Europe”, Düsseldorf Airport also received excellent ratings in a global comparison: DUS took third place in the “World's Best Regional Airports” ranking - and climbed to 28th place in the overall cross-category ranking of all 575 airports assessed worldwide, three places higher than in the previous year.
The “Oscar” of aviation
The Skytrax Award is one of the most prestigious awards in the aviation industry. The British consultancy Skytrax has been conducting the world's largest customer satisfaction survey in air travel every year since 1999. Passengers from over 100 countries rate more than 500 airports worldwide - based on their personal experiences during their journey. The focus is on all key areas of the airport experience: check-in, security checks, cleanliness, orientation, service quality, catering, shopping, baggage handling and transport connections.
And what does “Regional Airport” mean?
The “Regional Airport” category includes airports that mainly offer intra-European or continental connections - i.e. are not major intercontinental hubs.
