Checking in on time
Normally, airlines recommend that passengers check-in for their flight between 90 and 120 minutes before departure. However check-in time varies from airline to airline and is also dependent on the flight’s destination. It is therefore recommended that you check with your airline before commencing your journey. For non-stop flights to the USA you should allow extra time. Due to the topical situation at the security check points you should allow longer waiting periods. Service Information
If your time at the airport includes the use of additional services that may incur more waiting times (e.g. VAT refund or services for disabled passengers), we recommend that you plan your travel accordingly and arrive at the airport earlier.
Checking in at the desk
The check-in desks at Düsseldorf Airport are all located on the central departures level in the terminal and can be easily reached on foot, irrespective of whether you enter the terminal in the areas of Piers A, B or C. Please consult one of the many information monitors to find the check-in desk number for your flight.
Obtaining information about your flight from the flight timetable on our website or using the DUS App is even more convenient. The information provided here is updated in real time. The APP furthermore offers other helpful tips and information: For instance it allows you to label a flight and then keep an eye on each stage of the journey until takeoff.
You can find information about late night check-in here.
Check-in at a check-in machine
Some airlines at Düsseldorf Airport offer their passengers the option of checking-in electronically at one of the automatic check-in kiosks. To use the self-service check-in kiosks you usually require your credit card, your frequent flyer card or your machine-readable passport. Alternatively, you can also use self-service check-in by entering your booking code.
If you are only traveling with carry-on baggage you may proceed directly to the security checkpoint after you have checked-in. If you are traveling with checked baggage, please first deposit this with your airline.
As an alternative to checking-in using the self-service check-in kiosks, almost all airlines offer their passengers the option of checking-in online. Simply visit your airline’s website and have your booking number ready. This is normally required for the check-in process. If you are only traveling with carry-on baggage you may, following your arrival at the airport, proceed directly to the security checkpoint with your boarding card. If you are traveling with checked baggage, please first deposit this with your airline.
