After the last Airport City construction plot was marketed in 2017, the site development entered its next phase. Accordingly, Flughafen Düsseldorf Immobilien GmbH is in talks with interested parties for the new area, and it already sold two Airport City II construction sites.
Realized Properties in the Airport City
Well known national and international companies have already settled here, e.g., GEA, the tax consulting company WTS, the Porsche Centre, and Siemens. The office tenants can bring invidual work and design concepts to their spaces, because space sizes and floor plans are flexible - whether they want to organize their company in a modern or classic style, use individual or team offices, meeting points or open-space offices. Examples of all of these and many others can already be found in the more than 20 existing properties.
The design for the extraordinary structure “Panta Rhei” is the creation of the renowned architectural office Rhode Kellermann Wawrowsky, Architecture and Urban Planning (RKW). The design reflects the shape of the Rhine River by Düsseldorf and is a marvelous feat by the architects.
The seven-story “Shift” office building on Klaus-Bungert-Strasse has allocated a total of 6,370 square metres for leasing and was completed in summer 2020. Warburg-HIH Invest Real Estate purchased the project from Dragon Bauprojekt GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Red Dragon Holding GmbH. It was built according to the criteria of the DGNB Gold Standard.
The new central building of Flughafen Duüsseldorf GmbH in Airport City was built in the immediate vicinity of the terminal. The interplay of closed and open façade sections - a combination of high quality metal and transparent glass fronts characterises its exterior appearance. The building was awarded platinum certification under the DGNB guidelines.
The six-story “AirPark” administration building, with almost 14,000 square metres of office space, rose right next to the Stadtgarten, a major city park. The building has a clear modular basic structure and meaningful organisation – also expressed in its external appearance.
The seven-story “AirView” building has a direct connection to the Stadtgarten city park and stands on a nearly 4,000 square metre site. The building is equipped with an energy- and cost-efficient heating and cooling system, as well as integrated solar shading.
The “Airgate” building, along with the Maritim Hotel, forms a gateway - the entrance to Düsseldorf Airport City. Its conspicuous placement gives this property a very special flair. The building was constructed under the Swiss Minergie standard, so its operation incurs only low ancillary costs.
In June 2013, project developer STRAGAB Real Estate started construction on its fourth office building in Airport City. The building’s name is “KB4”, a combination of the street it is on (Klaus-Bungert-Str.) and its address (4). Klaus Bunger was mayor of Düsseldorf twice, from the 1970s to the 1990s. He was instrumental in the urban development of Düsseldorf.
In June 2013, construction of the fourth office building (KB4) by project developer STRABAG Real Estate in Airport City began. Only a few months after STRAGAB began building KB4, they started work on the identical “AERO” building. It features a high quality interior, state-of-the-art air conditioning, and soundproof windows, as well as outdoor spaces of generous dimensions and appealing designs.
With the “Airport Office III”, developer Conzepte für Immobilien GmbH (CFI) has completed another building within the Airport City after building the twin towers there. The seven-story building is situated in a prominent location that advertises its brand effectively right on the Stadtplatz (city square), with its high quality design and visual contact to the airport building and the Maritim Hotel.
This is already the fourth project developed by "Conzepte für Immobilien" in a joint venture with the construction company Derichs und Konertz in Airport City. The seven floors of "Airport Office IV" can each be divided into up to three rental areas. The smallest unit comprises 142 square metres of office space. The building has an innovative cooling and heating system that gets its energy via geothermal wells.
Die Company Conzepte für Immobilien GmbH (CFI) built the twin structures Airport Office I and II. These are two identical buildings that are fully climate-controlled, and each has 5,300 square metres of office space on six floors.
Developer Hochtief Projektentwicklung constructed an administration building for the Düsseldorf branch of the Siemens Group on Klaus-Bungert-Strasse, with direct visual contact of the Stadtgarden city park. Great thermal insulation, high quality building materials, and an intelligent heating, lighting, and ventilation concept help to save primary energy. The new building meets the requirements for participation in the European Union's Green Building Partner Programme.
“VDI House” was occupied in 2008 and about 500 employees of the Association of German Engineers work in it today. Previously, the organisation had several units all over Düsseldorf, and VDI House made it posssible to bring them together under one roof. The association, which is over 160 years old, is the largest engineering association in Europe and has about 154,000 members.
In November 2008, the Porsche Center Düsseldorf opened, the largest in Germany. Built to Porsche's corporate identity specifications, the building blends harmoniously into the overall structural design of Airport City and is also an outstanding example of the architectural diversity of this attractive location.
Züblin Development GmbH built “Airport Gardens”, its third property in Airport City. About 14,400 square metres of office space in this six-story administration building is rented. The atrium building’s courtyard is noteworthy for its sophisticated garden design.
The Maritim Hotel forms the entrance to Airport City. It features 533 upscale rooms and suites and offers great culinary options, making it appealing for hosting business meetings and housing guests comfortably and close to their business location.
