Airport City

The location “Düsseldorf Airport City” offers optimum conditions for discerning companies. This business park is networked locally, has excellent international connections, and is structurally highly evolved. Its concept and design make Airport City a pioneer in a new generation of business parks at airports. Not only is the airport easy to reach, but so are the fairgrounds and the city centre of the State capital Düsseldorf. Direct train connections, an ideal highway sytem, and airlines flying to all corners of the world offer companies that operate from here the best business conditions.

Economic Factor

About 40,000 companies have chosen Düsseldorf, Europe‘s third-largest business region. More than 230 companies are currently located directly at the airport.

Work Spaces

The first construction phase was mostly completed by the end of 2016, creating around 3,000 office work spaces. About 5,000 work spaces will be available by the time all projects are done.

Transport Connections

Airport City is only 5 minutes away from the terminal. The suburban rail station “Düsseldorf Airport Terminal” goes straight into the airport terminal. The SkyTrain also takes you there conventiently.

Business Park with Green Spaces and Quiet Zones

From the time the plans for Airport City were first drawn, a main feature was a high quality of outdoor space with splendid green spaces that the neighborhood could also access. The concept of parks, squares, and street spaces is based on classic elements of landscape design: individual trees and groups of trees. They are combined with forest-like spots, bodies of water, and sculpted grounds. Above-ground parking was categorically avoided to make more room for green spaces.

Premium Location with High Quality Locale

A well defined concept for Airport City and its optimum location is at the heart of both the original project and further development. The concept incorporates environment, accessibility, and appearance, and these aspects ensure the value and sustainability of this business park investment. At the same time, investors and tenants retain their freedom in planning and designing their property. Renowned architectural firms develop, plan, and build the complexes, and their use of clear lines forms a holistic image of urban development.

Further Development of the Airport City

After the last Airport City construction plot was marketed in 2017, the site development entered its next phase. Airport City I is a success, and the airport is now expanding the area in the western part of the airport site on more than five hectares. Retail, office, and administration buildings are planned, and gastronomic offerings, hotels, and facilities with a cultural focus are also possible.

The development of Airport City II is a crucial aspect of attracting new companies to Düsseldorf as a business location. There is a need for appealing local office spaces, and the demand for commercial real estate that meets the latest ecological standards is ongoing, continues. Buildings with innovative concepts are needed for users with evolving expectations. Sustainability and modern work styles are at the forefront.

Following a resolution by the Düsseldorf City Council on 16 December 2021, the development plan became legally valid when it was published in the Official City Journal on 30 December 2021. Further information on the completed development plan process can be found on the city's website.

Accordingly, Flughafen Düsseldorf Immobilien GmbH is in talks with interested parties for the new area, and it already sold two Airport City II construction sites.

Realized Properties in the Airport City

Well known national and international companies have already settled here, e.g., GEA, the tax consulting company WTS, the Porsche Centre, and Siemens. The office tenants can bring invidual work and design concepts to their spaces, because space sizes and floor plans are flexible - whether they want to organize their company in a modern or classic style, use individual or team offices, meeting points or open-space offices. Examples of all of these and many others can already be found in the more than 20 existing properties.
