“We are creating an area at our airport for the sustainable energy supply of a CO2-neutral airport. For example, by building a hydrogen filling station, a new fuel depot with a rail siding and by providing sustainable aviation fuels. We are relying on an innovation partnership with the neighboring EUREF-Campus and expertise from the NRW region. The DUSconnect mobility hub secures the logistical connection for the eastern airport area and creates an outstanding link between air, rail and road transportation. This will create new attractive transfer options and make DUS Airport a pioneer for trimodality. In the medium term, the remaining domestic German flights can be gradually shifted to new ICE connections.”
