Bulky baggage

Whether travel cot, prams, musical instruments or sports equipment - bulky luggage that cannot be conveyed in the common baggage transporting system has to be checked in seperately.

Clarify most important points in advance!

Transport of sports equipment and bulky baggage is normally chargeable. Some airlines, though, offer their customers to carry golf bags and diving equipment free of charge as free baggage up to a certain weight. The dimensions and maximum weight of the bag vary from airline to airline. Special rules apply to the transport of hunting equipment. It’s best to find out about the key points when booking your trip or flight:

  • Can you take sports equipment or special baggage with you?
  • What will the transport cost?
  • How and where can I register my bulky baggage?

What counts as bulky baggage?

All bigger pieces of baggage that cannot be conveyed in the baggage handling system are considered bulky baggage. For example:

  • Oversized bags
  • Backpacks with straps
  • Wheelchairs
  • Prams and child seats
  • Bikes
  • Skis and snowboards
  • Surfboards
  • Diving gear
  • Animals in transport cages

Counter on the departure level

You will find three bulky baggage counters (100, 211 and 250) on the departure level.

+++ Please note: Due to construction work, special baggage counter 211 will be unavailable from 27.10.2025, to 09.01.2026. Please use counters 100 or 250. +++

Where can I pick up my bulky baggage after landing?

The pick-up points for baby carriages, sports equipment etc. are close to your baggage belt. There are four counters (see location map). You will find out which one is the right one for you at the baggage belt of your flight. Please check the information at your baggage belt.
