Two rail stations
Düsseldorf Airport is easily accessible by regional and long-distance trains, S-Bahn services and the U80 and U81 light rail lines. Passengers can choose between two railway stations and one light rail stop.
Numerous regional and long-distance trains, ranging from S-Bahn services to ICE high-speed trains, stop daily at Düsseldorf Flughafen station, located at the eastern end of the airport grounds. From there, the SkyTrain takes you directly to the terminals. The S11 runs from Bergisch Gladbach via Düsseldorf Central Station to Düsseldorf Flughafen Terminal station, located below the terminal.
The U80 also connects Düsseldorf Central Station directly with the Flughafen Terminal light rail stop at Terminal C, with no need to change trains. On selected event days, the U81 provides a direct connection between the airport, Messe Düsseldorf and Merkur Spiel-Arena.
U80: Düsseldorf Central Station – Airport Terminal

- Journey time from Düsseldorf Central Station: around 18 minutes
- Frequency: generally every 20 minutes
- Off-peak periods and Sundays: every 30 minutes
- First arrival at the airport: shortly after 4 a.m. daily
- Last departure from the airport: around 1 a.m.
U81: Messe/Arena – Airport Terminal
- Operates on selected event days
- Key stops: Merkur Spiel-Arena/Messe Nord, Freiligrathplatz and Flughafen Terminal
- Journey time between Messe/Arena and the airport: around five minutes
- Mondays to Saturdays: every 20 minutes
- Sundays: every 30 minutes
The U80 provides a regular connection between Düsseldorf city centre and the airport. The U81 offers an additional service on selected event days at Messe Düsseldorf and Merkur Spiel-Arena.
SkyTrain
The SkyTrain takes you within seven Minutes from the train station to the terminal bulding.

Please note
Between Wednesday, September 16, and Friday, September 18, the SkyTrain will have the following scheduled service interruptions due to maintenance work:
- September 16–17: 3:45 a.m. to 12:45 a.m.
- September 17–18: 3:45 a.m. to 12:45 a.m.
During these temporary service suspensions, a replacement service will be provided: Shuttle buses will connect the “Düsseldorf Airport” station and Parking Garage 4 to the terminal building during this time

Special buses drive to events at the trade fair centres in Düsseldorf and Essen.
