Pick-up & drop-off
In order to better organise traffic, the airport implemented a barrier systems in front of and behind the access points for the Departure and Arrivals levels. Vehicles may continue to pass through both zones free of charge and take passengers to the terminal’s Departure level; however, longer-term stopping in this area will become subject to a fee.
At the Departures level you may stay free of charge for up to ten minutes. There are 80 stopping points available. If you need more than the free 10 minutes, there will be a charge of 5 euros for each additional 5 minutes. Parking in this area is allowed for 30 minutes at most.
When entering and leaving the vehicle registration is detected by cameras. If the free time in theDeparture and Arrivals levels is not exceeded, the barriers open automatically at the exit without the driver having to insert his ticket. Individual data is deleted from the systems after six hours.
Parking for Pick-up & drop-off
For drivers needing more than the average drop-off time, Düsseldorf Airport recommend the short-term parking lots P11 and P12, which are located right behind the access area exit.
Now that the barrier system is operational, am I still allowed to drop off passengers and say goodbye in front of the terminal at the Departures level?
Am I allowed to leave the car and walk the passengers to the terminal?
For how long am I allowed to stop at the Departures level?
Do I have to drive through the barrier system or can I make a turn before entering?
What happens if I don’t find an available stopping area and have to enter a second time?
Are there options at the Arrivals level for stops to let passengers with luggage just “hop” in the car?
Is there a maximum height for vertical clearance?
Are there exceptions for people with limited mobility?
The best parking options for people with reduced mobility are the many available in our conveniently located car parks or short-term car lots.
Please note: Unlike the car parks, short-term car lots are not free of charge for people with reduced mobility who are EU-passport holders.
Who can help me onsite?
How do I get to my parking spot/car park area, which is located right before, inside, or behind the barrier area?
Car parks P1 and P3 are located right before the Kiss & Fly area.
Inside the barriered area, you’ll find the entry to P2, and behind the Kiss & Fly zone are car lots P11 and P12.

How and where do I pay in case I go over the time limit for free stops?
Do I have to pay twice if I drive first through the barriers at the terminal access points and then into a car park?
Enter car park P2 by inserting the ticket received at the barrier for the entry point into the P2 automated access station. After being time-stamped, the ticket will pop out of the machine, the barrier opens, and the ticket can be paid as usual before exiting P2. After exiting car park P2, the exit of the terminal access is next, at which the paid ticket is inserted into the automated exit station.
